The Farm

Our vision is that Nubanusit Farm will be a small biodynamic farm offering organic produce, dairy products, meat and eggs for the neighbors and possibly others. Neighbors may participate in the Farm depending on their individual desires and the farm needs, though participation is not required.  We are working to create a farm that is sustainable for the land, the animals, the farmers and the neighborhood.

Our plan is for Nubanusit Farm to include a small dairy, an apiary, chickens for eggs and meat, horses, and possibly other farm animals, orchards, berry patches, vegetable and herb gardens.  Our fields include a three acre vegetable field, two pastures (approx. eight acres each) and a seven acre hay field.

Now that home construction is complete our attention is turning to the Agricultural Farm ventures. The Equestrian Farm is well established with a horse barn and riding arena and two horses, Magic and Squirt and Blackie the llama in residence. A pony, Jimmy Joe, will join them soon, filling the last stall. Our bees survived the winter with honey to spare. Piglets, chicks and two milk cows, Magnolia and Pumpkin, will arrive in Spring 2009. We will spend this summer preparing our vegetable field for the 2010 growing season.

Shelley Goguen Hulbert is an experienced dairy farmer with a certificate in biodynamic farming.  She and her husband Robin are managing the farm development process.

We hope to attract an experienced biodynamic vegetable farmer to live and work here.  In addition, it would be great to have a naturopathic, large animal veterinarian in the Neighborhood.
