Tapping Our Sugar Maples & "Sugaring Off"

On our land and easily accessible are a variety of maple trees. They are know for their brilliant fall foliage colors, and one in particular, the Sugar Maple, is known for its sweet sap in the spring, which New Englanders have collected and boiled down to Maple Sugar for centuries.
We started tapping our sugar maples this year on Thursday, March 4, 2010, and as you'll see, the sap starts flowing into the collection buckets right away.

Stay tuned for sugaring off.
